Energy drinks are everywhere. But, what feels like energy is actually your body spending something it doesn't have.
Energy drinks are everywhere. But, what feels like energy is actually your body spending something it doesn't have.
Energy drinks are everywhere. The shelves. The gyms. The morning commute. Every can promising more output, more energy, more of everything.
The market is enormous and growing. The messaging is consistent: drink this, feel more.
But biology doesn't negotiate with marketing.
Most people who reach for an energy drink are already running on a deficit. The drink closes the gap for an hour or two. Then the gap widens. And they reach for another one.
We asked ARMRA® Founder and CEO Dr. Sarah Rahal for her unfiltered take on what energy drinks are actually doing inside the body, and why the cycle is harder to break than most people realize.
"Because they sell a promise: drink this and feel more. More alert. More capable.
But the mechanism behind that feeling is not what most people imagine.
Caffeine and stimulants do not generate energy. They do not improve how your cells produce it. What's actually happening inside your body is the opposite of optimization. Caffeine and stimulants force your nervous system to dump stored energy on demand.
Cortisol spikes. Output surges. You feel it.
And then it wears off. And your baseline is lower than it was before you opened the can."
"Your nervous system is being asked to spend reserves it wasn't planning to spend.
Cortisol has a specific biological job. In genuine stress situations, it mobilizes energy fast, pulling from stored glycogen, suppressing non-essential functions, and redirecting resources toward immediate output. It is a survival mechanism, and a highly effective one.
Caffeine hijacks that mechanism. It forces the signal without the underlying biological need.
So your body responds the way it's supposed to respond to a real threat: it dumps reserves, elevates heart rate, sharpens focus, and pushes output."

"That you didn't gain energy. You borrowed it. And now you owe interest.
This is the part that doesn't make it onto the label.
Stimulants don't build your body's capacity to produce energy. They override the system that does. Every time you reach for that spike, you're asking your biology to operate in emergency mode because you need to get through the afternoon.
Over time, that pattern has consequences.
Cortisol dysregulation. Disrupted sleep architecture. Impaired mitochondrial function. The systems that actually generate cellular energy, the ones that determine whether you feel sharp, recovered, and capable without pharmaceutical assistance, are being asked to perform under chronic artificial stress.
When the stimulant wears off, your cells haven't gotten better at making energy. They've just been asked to spend faster than they can earn.
The fatigue you feel after the crash isn't a side effect. It's the debt coming due."
"Because the biology starts working against you.
The more consistently you use stimulants to force output, the more your body compensates. Cortisol receptors downregulate. Adenosine receptors, the ones caffeine blocks to prevent the feeling of fatigue, upregulate. You need more stimulant to get the same effect.
Meanwhile, the downstream systems that determine real energy production are deteriorating.
Gut barrier integrity. Immune signaling. Metabolic regulation. These are not abstract concepts, they are the upstream conditions that determine how efficiently your mitochondria function, how well nutrients are absorbed, and how effectively your body converts fuel into output.
None of that is addressed by a stimulant. None of it appears on a nutrition label.
The crash isn't just the caffeine wearing off. It's a signal that the foundation is eroding."
"ARMRA starts where energy drinks don't, at the cellular level.
Energy is not a feeling you borrow. It is a biological output your cells generate when the terrain supports it. Gut integrity, immune balance, cellular signaling, these are the upstream conditions that determine whether your body runs efficiently or burns through its reserves.
Colostrum evolved to build exactly that terrain. Over 400 bioactive nutrients, designed to work in concert, strengthening the gut barrier, calibrating immune communication, and optimizing metabolic systems from the very first moments of life.
ARMRA Colostrum delivers those same bioactive nutrients that support gut barrier integrity, reinforce mucosal lining, and help restore the metabolic terrain that determines how energy is actually produced.
Not a spike. Not a signal override. A system that earns its output.
Energy drinks give you the sensation of output. ARMRA supports the biology that makes it sustainable."*
